In 2013 Ojai WordFest “Local Literary Legend” Award Granted Posthumously to Krishnamurti for his Illuminating Body of Work

456px-Jiddu_Krishnamurti_01Former Ojai resident Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) claimed allegiance to no nationality, caste, religion, or philosophy, and spent his life traveling the world, speaking and authoring many books, among them The First and Last Freedom, The Only Revolution, and Krishnamurti’s Notebook. Many of his talks and discussions have also been published.

Throughout his life, Krishnamurti’s fundamental teachings, originally made in 1929, remained unchanged. His written statement, that came to be known as the “Core of the Teaching,” had as its centerpiece: ‘Truth is a pathless land.’

Bruce Lee discovers and reads J. Krishnamurti during a break while he was recovering from a lower back injury and it is a life changing experience for him. Krishnamurti’s teachings including “You HAVE to be a light unto yourself…” influences Lee and millions of others around the world including writers Joseph Campbell and Aldous Huxley.
